Our mission

A Priest of Ifá has always held an important role within the community. Through the wisdom and knowledge of Ifá, the priest provides spiritual guidance and assistance to those in need, while also contributing to the well-being of the community as a whole.

Traditionally, this responsibility extends beyond spiritual work. Following certain rituals and ceremonies, offerings provided by the devotee—including animals offered to the Òrìṣà—may also serve a communal purpose by providing food and support to members of the surrounding community. In this way, the work of Ifá benefits not only the individual seeking spiritual assistance, but can also become a means of helping others.

In order to preserve this spirit of giving while adapting it to life in the United States, Àwọn Ọmọ Yorùbá has modified this traditional practice to better serve the needs and realities of our community.

When payment is received for one of our religious services, appropriate compensation is provided to the officiating priest or priests for their time, knowledge, and religious duties. The remaining funds are dedicated to the nonprofit activities and community programs of Àwọn Ọmọ Yorùbá.

Our primary charitable focus is supporting children and individuals and families who lack access to basic necessities. Through this approach, we seek to preserve an important principle of Ifá: that spiritual service should not end with the individual, but should also contribute to the well-being of the wider community.
